Rehabilitation Project of Berths No. (1), (2), (3) and Yard No. (5) at Abu Flous Port – Basra Governorate

This project is part of the infrastructure development plan at Abu Flous Port. It aims to rehabilitate and modernize Berth No. (3) and Yard No. (5) to meet the demands of modern maritime operations and support the port’s operational and service activities. The project includes repairs and reinforcement of the berths, leveling and grading of yards, drainage system improvements, and the construction of support facilities to enhance efficiency and handling speed.

Project Importance:

  • Enhancing logistical operations: at the port by developing infrastructure and expanding operational capacity.
  • Improving maritime safety: and providing a better working environment for operational staff.
  • Supporting import and export activities: by increasing the port's ability to accommodate various types and sizes of commercial vessels.
  • Boosting the competitiveness of Abu Flous Port: on both national and regional levels within the Iraqi port network.
  • Contributing to the stimulation of the local economy: by creating direct and indirect job opportunities and improving the supply chain.

Actual Areas Included in the Rehabilitation:

  • Berth No. (3): Fully rehabilitated, including reinforcement of the concrete structure, cathodic protection, and installation of new handling and mooring equipment.
  • Yard No. (5): Rehabilitation covered the contracted areas, including backfilling, leveling, stone layering, and construction of service lanes, lighting, and drainage systems.
